Windows 11 Migration/Update

Body

Updating to Windows 11
Microsoft Windows 10 support will end in October. To ensure security and performance, ITS will begin automatically upgrading all university-owned Windows 10 devices to Windows 11 starting October 6.

Solution: You may upgrade manually before the deadline to minimize disruptions. Follow the steps below:

  1. Save your work and close all windows and browsers.
  2. Click the Windows icon in your task tray to open the Start Menu.
  3. Type Software Center into the search bar and open it.
  4. Go to the Operating Systems tab.
  5. Select Upgrade to Windows 11 x64 and click Install.

Windows Activation
In some cases, you may be prompted to activate Windows after your upgrade to Windows 11. If this happens, please contact the ITS Service Desk.

Additional Information:

If you are upgrading a university-owned device while working off campus, ensure you are connected to GlobalProtect VPN. This allows your device to properly communicate with Loyola’s network during the upgrade.

Once the installation completes, your device will automatically reboot to finalize the process. For minimal disruption, we recommend starting the upgrade at the end of your workday after saving your files.
