Multicasting technology is utilized in many consumer devices such as Amazon Echo, Apple TV, and Hue Lighting bulbs to allow one device to communicate with another. While this functionality works well in home networks, it is not supported on Loyola University Chicago's secure and encrypted network.
Some features of these devices may still function, and the following table outlines what is and is not supported on Loyola’s network. More information is available on the Loyola NetReg page.

*Google Home: The configuration of Google Home devices requires a remote app running on a mobile device -- both of which must communicate with each other while on the same WiFi network. This process uses multicasting technology, and Loyola's network does not support it.
**Wireless Printers: Use a USB cable or off-campus Wi-Fi for initial setup.
