Nintendo Switch Online Multiplayer Games

Students living in Residence Halls may want to play online multiplayer games on a Nintendo Switch. However, Nintendo uses a peer-to-peer networking technology for multiplayer games that the University’s wireless network does not support.

We recommend the following work-around which will assign a unique public facing IP address to the Switch, allowing online multiplayer games:

  1. Dock the Switch.
  2. Connect the Switch to an Ethernet port using a USB to Ethernet adapter (available for purchase from Nintendo).

Not sure if the network jack in the Residence Hall is active?
