What’s Included in Microsoft 365 for Faculty, Staff, and Students?

Loyola University Chicago provides access to Microsoft 365, Microsoft’s productivity suite, at no additional cost to active university faculty, staff, and actively matriculated students. The suite includes:

  • Office applications (available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android): Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher (PC only), and Access (PC only).
  • Office Online: Web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • OneDrive cloud storage (5 TB).
  • Teams communication.

Note: ITS strongly encourages faculty, staff, and students to retain product keys for privately purchased copies of Microsoft Office.

How Do I Install Microsoft 365 on a Loyola Imaged Computer?

  1. Click on the Windows Start Menu.
  2. Select Loyola Software Links.
  3. Scroll down and click on Software Center.
  4. Find Microsoft 365 (Office) and click Install. This action will uninstall Office 2016 and install Office 365.

Installing Microsoft 365 on Personal Devices (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android)

  1. Log in to the Microsoft 365 portal at portal.office.com using your Loyola username and password.
  2. Click the button labeled "Install apps" in the top right corner of the page and select "Microsoft 365 apps".
  3. Once the download finishes, open the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to install Microsoft 365.
  4. After installation, open one of the apps and sign in using your Loyola email and password.

Installing on Mobile Devices

  1. Launch the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Search for Microsoft 365 (Office). Each app must be downloaded separately.
  3. Once downloaded, launch the app(s).
  4. Sign in using your Loyola email and password.

Note: Some macOS users may encounter an error message that Office "cannot be installed because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store." To resolve this, right-click the installer and select "Open." The warning will reappear, but an "Open" button will allow installation.
