Does Information Technology Services (ITS) support smart plugs, lamps, or lightbulbs on the university network?
Information Technology Services (ITS) currently does not support smart plugs, lamps, or lightbulbs on the university network. The network has been designed with compartmentalization and segmentation for security purposes, and these types of devices are not compatible with our setup.
Why are these devices not supported?
Previously, personal routers were used to bypass this restriction. However, due to security and performance concerns, these devices have been banned by our Information Security team to ensure the integrity and stability of the network.
What should I do if I need to connect smart devices?
