LUMEN

Overview

LUMEN is a legacy content delivery system for medical students at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. Designed to support the unique needs of medical education, LUMEN organizes course resources, calendars, and schedules in one accessible, centralized platform. LUMEN is a supplemental tool; resources from this site will be linked to each course/clerkship Sakai site.

Key Features

  • Course-Specific Homepages: Each course has a dedicated homepage providing access to assignments, announcements, and links to essential resources.
  • Comprehensive Resource Access: Course materials, including PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, lecture videos, and handouts relevant to each educational session are accessible.
  • Integrated Calendar & Course Activities Pages: Each course page links to a course-specific calendar and activities page, organizing all resources and deadlines for efficient student planning.
  • On-Campus Access Without Login: Non-video documents (PDFs, handouts, etc.) are accessible on campus without a username or password, making it easy for students to access content in the university setting.
  • Secure Off-Campus Access:  Off-campus access to non-video documents requires a general login, while video content requires an LUC UVID and password, ensuring secure content delivery for all students.

  • Streamlined Learning Experience: LUMEN simplifies finding and accessing course materials, allowing medical students to focus on their studies without administrative hurdles.
  • Enhanced Accessibility: With all course materials in one place and intuitive navigation, LUMEN makes it easy for students to stay organized and up-to-date on assignments, lectures, and exams.
