Multi-Factor Authentication

Overview

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure implemented by ITS to protect personal information, intellectual property, and University data. MFA adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring that even if your LUC password is compromised, unauthorized access is prevented. Users can authenticate using the Microsoft Authenticator app on their mobile device or by receiving a secure code via text message. MFA combines your LUC UVID and password with an additional authentication method to verify your identity and safeguard online resources.

Key Features

  • Enhanced Security: Combines your LUC credentials with a second authentication factor for robust protection against unauthorized access.
  • Flexible Authentication Options: Users can verify their identity via the Microsoft Authenticator app or secure text message codes.
  • Seamless Integration: MFA works across various University online platforms, ensuring consistent and secure access to resources.
  • Quick Setup: Easy-to-follow instructions guide users through downloading the app and setting up their MFA preferences.

Benefits

  • Prevents Unauthorized Access: Reduces the risk of hackers impersonating you to access your accounts and University resources.
  • Protects University Data: Shields sensitive information and intellectual property from data breaches.
  • Enhances Peace of Mind: Provides confidence that your personal and academic information is secure.
  • Supports Compliance: Aligns with industry-standard security practices for higher education institutions.
